I know where you're coming from, I went about figuring out mapping, because I didn't like the limitations, and while making presets w/ the Novation desktop editor is definitely useful - it's really impractical when you get beyond a couple of your most crucial mappings - certainly not for a more programmatic way to more fully control a device beyond 8 parameters - where you just end up toggling back and forth between the device and your mouse. The Capsule series from Sound Collective also offers up to 64 original plugins. All in all, there are eight user presets and eight factory presets, more than enough. Included audio software: Ableton Live Lite, Launch Control XL MIDI Editor. All described functions are included as a part of a main factory preset. I also wrote an article that intros this kind of stuff too The LaunchControl XL Guide. You will also have flanger, chorus and delay effects, or 64 factory presets. Order the Novation Launch Control XL at Coolblue. Those scripts can automatically map up to the max allowed w/ Live currently (128) - along w/ other features for mapping more complex plugins like VST's where the parameters and even GUI can vary from preset to preset. That being said, if you want to have some automatic mapping beyond those 8 parameters, and for 3rd party and other type devices, you'll want to look into the LCXXL & PrEditor scripts on the Isotonik Studios website. I really like the launchcontrol XL standard settings, especially that it just moves around with the track select, but I never use panning. If you've got the LCXL setup w/ Live in factory mode 1, the 3rd row of pots should always automatically map to the 8 parameters (which are assigned by Live and might not be the first 8 you see on a device etc).
